Beyond the Gate: Lewa, Borana & Lolldaiga

Part of what makes OSOTUA Villa 18 such a rare base is what surrounds it. Within a short drive of OSOTUA Villa 18 are three of Laikipia's finest conservancies, each with its own character, and each worth a day of your stay.

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of East Africa's great conservation stories, Lewa is best known for its black and white rhino populations, alongside healthy numbers of elephant, lion and the rare Grevy's zebra. Game drives here tend to feel wide open, with sweeping views back toward Mount Kenya.

Borana Conservancy

Bordering Lewa and sharing an unfenced boundary with it, Borana adds rockier, hillier terrain to the mix, along with horseback safaris for confident riders and some of the region's most dramatic sundowner spots.

Lolldaiga Conservancy

Closer still, Lolldaiga offers open, less-visited country and reliable big cat sightings, lion among them, without the crowds of better-known reserves. It's an easy half-day or full-day excursion from the villa.

Our team can help arrange game drives, guides and vehicles for any of the three, timed around the rest of your stay. Ask when you book, or once you've arrived and decided you'd rather not leave the pool just yet.
